#NailCraziesUnite’s Black & White Lace prompt made the color choices pretty easy. But the hardest part of putting together a lace nail art design is figuring out which image to use. I was all set to use a heart lace pattern, but then I remembered it was MerMay and decided I should get one mermaid design in before the rest of the month escapes me. The great part about KAD’s 017 lace stamping plate is that it has a bunch of plain net patterns and some fancy edging so you can put together your own lace. And it looks pretty good if you leave it plain too, but I didn’t take a photo of that. And it’s a double oops because with the mermaids on top you can’t really see that my base polish is magnetic either. :p
One of the fancy edges reminded me a little of seashells so I went with that. Then I top coated to keep everything neat and, once that was dry, masked the lace off with liquid latex (or scotch tape, which I used on my thumb) and stamping the net pattern down. My nails are pretty long right now, but the fancy edging really cut down on the available space for mermaids/shells so I used my shrink stamper to ensure everything would fit.
