I actually posted this mani last year and saw, too late, a gingerbread mani by Megan (@two.peas.and.polish). It had an element in it that I wanted to steal so bad. I even mentioned it at the end of the 1.0 gingerbread blog post. I’ve embedded her Insta post below the next two paragraphs, but just in case it stops existing, I’ll describe it for you: So she started with a set of magnetic brown press-on nails. Then, she added a Side French (a diagonal area next to the cuticle area) with Maniology’s M304 stamping plate and rounded the edge with dots so it looked like frosting. On some of the photos, that’s it, but she also took a smaller dotting tool and added some metallic dots in red and green. She finished her abstract gingerbread look with three dots down the thumb and accent nail.

It was so cool. It fit my two framing nails because they were brown. I’d just…already taken the pictures, edited them, and set up my post. I was already done. But the great thing about painting on falsies is that they’re still around a year later…

Nail art products used

Base Polishes:
Bee’s Knees Lacquer’s “Thunderbird Feather” (undie), Maniology’s Saddle Up, and Night Owl Lacquer’s Roasting Marshmallows
Nail Stickers:
Cute gingerbread nail stickers from Aliexpress labeled WG393 (boy and girl gingerbread, gingerbread house, gingerbread reindeer, Christmas tree)
Nail Decoration:
Freehanded a Side French with a scalloped edge using Pure Ice’s “Platinum Magic” a line of white dots and filled in the empty area with white before placing a row of rhinestones in pink and green inside the dots.

Items in italics are debuting on the blog for the first time.

So I took Megan’s idea and changed it to fit my mani. Even though I had M304, I decided to freehand my Side French for practice. And since I didn’t have a glitzy magnetic background, I decided to jazz mine up by replacing the colorful dots with actual rhinestones. I had green and pink so that’s what I used. Everything else stayed the same. The layered gingerbread nail stickers and the base polishes are all as-is.

Now that I’ve done it once, I wonder how many more old manis I will revisit because I can. πŸ€”
