Several years ago there was a pair of nail art prompts from one of the challenges that had people painting a spring-type nail art with fall colors and vice versa. I had a lot of fun with the prompt and always thought I’d like to do the same with summer and winter. So here’s my first swing at the winter-type nail art in summer colors (aka neon). A crΓ¨che of penguins gazing up into the sky at some shooting stars felt very appropriate.
And I just stuck to shooting stars on my thumb…

I had Maniology’s wonderful customer support change the ship date of my Mani x Me boxes to the first day they ship because I am greedy and want my stuff as soon as possible. To my surprise I actually got June’s box before the end of the month this time! I decided to use the bright blue stamping polish, “Flotsam”, in this mani since that felt very summer-y as well. Plus part of me wants to commit to using everything in the box before the end of the month because things maaaay be piling up a bit. π
Mani look-back
Today’s color scheme reminds me of 2018’s Rainbow In-Carnation
The blue stamping polishes are nearly a match. This makes me happy since I’m slowly trying to replace all of my Mundo de Unas polishes. I hate junking them but every time I stamp with them now I get little strings coming off the stamping image no matter how I scape or pick up. If a product is ruining your nail art, it’s just not worth it to keep using it. I do miss how very opaque they are. But I don’t miss the smell… π¦¨
Before stamping…
I was actually thoughtful enough to take a photo before I started stamping this time, so I have that to share. I used a sponge to apply my last layer of white polish and didn’t put on a top coat before I dry brushed on the neon polish. It gave it an extra interesting texture…
It occurred to me yesterday that I haven’t been taking macro shots lately. Generally I don’t unless I think there are some details that would be nice to see closer up or the polish is especially fancy. I thought the dry brushing would be interesting to see closer up, so here we are.
And far away…
Swapping Seasons
This is part of a four-part series where I painted a design for one season in the colors of another season. Here are the other four:
And that’s it for May. See you in June, friends! π
