I used to be all about the French toast and the crepes stuffed with whip cream and fruit. Like…give me the dessert breakfast, please. And there’s cereal or the typical platter of pancakes/hash browns/bacon/eggs. Those are nice, but that’s not what I typically eat for breakfast anymore.
Yesterday I had fish, rice, and pickled daikon radish. Sometimes I have last night’s leftovers. Or I cook some sort of eggy thing. And this last week I tried making homemade British baked beans (tomato and not molasses based) and had that on homemade bread. Surprisingly good. Will do again.
What I’m saying is, I’m over typical American breakfasts. And so is today’s breakfast nail art.
I didn’t have a stamping image for slices of daikon radish so I decided to go with soup on my thumb since my husband enjoys his rice and fish with a little bowl of miso soup. Good, but the pickled stuff is easier to add to my plate.
Pantone 2020 Winter Challenge
I can hardly believe it, but there’s only one more color prompt before this challenge is complete. Wooow! This week’s main color was Pantone’s Rose Tan, but I ended up making Ice Flow the main color of my design instead. Possibly not a great idea because the last color is also a kind of grey… 😬 Anyway, here’s the breakdown:
Rose Tan: Maniology’s “Restless Dahlia”
Cardinal: Ms. Sparkle’s “Fiesta”
Ice Flow: Turtle Tootsie’s “Chocolate Chip Mint”
It may seem weird, but the thing I’m proudest of about this nail art is how I filled in the rice part of bowl of rice stamping decal. I just kind of dabbed the white nail polish in without filling it entirely because I wanted it to have the texture of rice. I didn’t even have to add another color behind that because the mint polish made an excellent shade color.
Nail art products used
- Base Polish:
- Turtle Tootsie’s “Chocolate Chip Mint“
- Stamping Polishes:
- Maniology’s “Red Sea” and “Restless Dahlia“
- Advanced Stamping Polishes:
- Maniology’s “Restless Dahlia“, Ms. Sparkle’s “Fiesta” , Smacker’s “Wickedly Stylish“, and Zoya’s “Seraphina“
- Stamping Plates:
- Beauty BigBang “XL-085“ (background lines), Moyou London “Suki Collection-03” (rice bowl), and Nee Jolie “NJX-005” (fish and miso bowl)
For whatever reason, I went kind of crazy in how I filled in these decals. I added swoops of silver to create highlights and painted patterns into the bowls. It was fun. Possibly this is leftover freehand with nail polish feelings from the UFO nail art. I didn’t even use acetone or polish thinner to make things easier, but I was using stamping polishes. Probably that helped.
I also added swoop-y lines into the background with my Rose Tan color, but it didn’t have enough contrast against the base polish so you can barely tell they are there. Oh, well. 😆
From a distance, the most I’d guess is that there’s a pale pink shimmer in the base polish… At least the advanced stamping decals are nicely bold.
So that’s my breakfast. How about you, friends? What do you normally eat?
Haha what a fun manicure! I don’t eat fish or meat but I’ll steal your rice and pickles. I love the pickles in miso soup 😀
I’m sure fried tofu would also be tasty in place of the fish. And I’d be happy to share my pickled yummies. 😁
OMG I totally love tofu. Addicted to it haha! Thanks 😀
