I love Alice in Wonderland. It’s so open to interpretation and the world is already crazy. Lately I’ve been watching a lot of music videos and there are quite a few that have drawn from Alice in Wonderland. An older favorite is Gwen Stefani’s crazy music video for “What You Waiting For?” where she embodies different characters with the coolest outfits. I also adore Lindsey Stirling’s “Hold My Heart” where “Alice” is invited to follow the White Rabbit (and tea party). There’s so much more out there, but the newest in my little collection is Juliet Ivy’s “We’re All Eating Each Other“. It references the tale more subtly, but I love its whimsy and I love the message of the song itself. Check it out!
Oh, yeah! Nail art. hehehe

I probably should have skipped last year’s ManixMe box for March. I was never the biggest fan of the original illustrations from the Alice in Wonderland book. And I’ve passed on both the Moyou London and Beauty BigBang plates that also used these images. I think I was just feeling too lazy to email their customer support and skip it. Ugh. Or maybe I was drawn in by the more Queen of Hearts plate that I ironically didn’t focus on here.
The problem I find is that the super detailed style of the art itself makes it hard to look particularly great in nail art. It does not lend itself well to, well, color. And if you’ve met the nail art community, we’re very much about all the colors. So for my own nail art I kept my color palette to the softest of greens and yellows and I think it works. Sticking to only neutral colors would probably also make for a pleasant design, but I also think trying to go bright and pop art with it would work as well. Maybe someday I will be brave and try it with the Red Queen in mind. 😁
#DesigningWithDenise – We’re All Mad Here
Everyone’s nail art goes the full range: from freehand painting to the very abstract. A fantastic range of inspiration for anyone that wants to reference Alice in Wonderland in their nails.

Alas, all tea parties must come to an end some time, however mad the participants. Until next time, friends! 🙋♀️
