Flashing Mardi Gras (NSFW)

This is the first post on the blog that is not safe for work and honestly it’s a little garbage that it’s getting stuck in that category but apparently women’s nipples are athema so here we are.

I want to be clear: this nail art is meant to be silly. It’s about Mardi Gras and the tradition where one group of people buy a lot of cheap bead necklaces and the other group of people flashes their boobs to collect those necklaces. Is it environmentally not great? Yes. Can it be really exploitive? Yes. Can it just be good fun. Also, yes.

The Soap Box

They’re just boobs! Frankly, I hate how we’ve over sexualized them. We forget that men had to fight for the right to be bare-chested in the 1930s. It’s nearly been a hundred years since then. Maybe it’s time to really start that fight for women. I wish I could see it. Frankly I feel pressured to conceal even the shape of my nipples under my clothes because that’s too much for some people. It sucks. Because if any nipple out there is truly disturbing, it’s extremely perky old man nipple through an athleisure shirt and those men don’t ever have to think about how it looks. Please do not stand with them in my direct line of sight, sir. I do not need more nightmare fuel.

Let’s throw in some more space so that seeing the uncensored nail art is your choice…

Also, let’s stop smothering feeding babies to protect anyone else’s fee-fees besides the woman providing the breast milk. Like if you haven’t donated extensively to give free baby formula to any family that needs it, you don’t even have the beginning of a leg to stand on. That’s 0% leg!

This Mardi Gras design came about because tradition, but also because I have two different stamping plates with the phrase “calm your tits” and I hate it. It’s a phrase that’s mostly directed to women and I feel like we’re already a group that isn’t allowed to be angry even though we have so much to be angry about. So I hate it while also understanding that it was included to be silly and fun. In that spirit, I decided to take it and make it fun for me and here we are.

I combined it with the classic Mardi Gras colors of purple, gold, and green. The shades are a little more subdued than what you often see with festival, but this is also a more adult mani anyway.
