We wish Alice luck as she’s off on her adventure in Wonderland. Meanwhile today’s mani is in celebration of Mad Hatter Day; although ironically it doesn’t have a single image of the hatter himself. It’s a little weird that he gets a day when Alice doesn’t, but apparently a group of engineers saw an image of him by Sir John Tenniel’s and petitioned for him to have a national day of his own. So it’s just about fashion, I guess. His admiration of hats is commendable after all.
Now let’s get to all that glow in the dark pink goodness.
Nail art products used
- Base Polish:
- Familiar Polish’s “Helium“
- Stamping Polish:
- Maniology’s “Petunia“
- Stamping Plates:
- Beauty BigBang “Ancient XL-003“ (Alice and the white rabbit standing in a mushroom garden, harlequin pattern with open door and Alice’s legs)
- “MouTeen-024“ (Alice falling down the hole with random objects, extra random objects, running White Rabbit, tiny standing Alice)
- Moyou London “Gothic Collection-07” (clock spiral with roman numerals)
Items in italics are debuting on the blog for the first time.
The MouTeen stamping plate’s images were much smaller than Beauty BigBang’s. 2Β½ x 1Β½ cm compared to 1ΒΎ x 1ΒΌ cm. So if you love Alice in Wonderland and have narrow/small nails, this is a great plate for you. I ended up having to freehand a little bit to extend the edges of things for me. The hardest was the image of Alice falling down the hole because the edges of the hole have random objects. I stole tiny images from all over the plate to keep the whole tunnel filled with junk. I also ripped out the image of Alice’s legs in the second door and shrunk stamped an already tiny Alice image to place inside. She must have eaten something. π
I thought about adding additional colors. Maybe double stamping the Alice and White Rabbit figures to help them stand out. Or adding a radial gradient to the middle, ring, and thumb to highlight the fancier images. But I’m glad I didn’t. Simplicity is nice sometimes and the metallic stamping polish lends a quiet air of sophistication when the mani is in daylight. But then the lights go out and she glows cause the base is a Familiar Polish. LOL
Truly this pink glow in the dark polish glows so good. It’s currently out of stock in Delia’s shop, but I expect she’ll bring it back so here’s a comparison collage of all its beautiful states. I noticed as the glow faded, it tended to be more purple. But since this is Familiar Polish, once you get it charged it should glow very pinkly for a while.
Will there be more Mad Hatter Days?
Will I celebrate this holiday again some day? I am not sure. I did get the ManixMe box with two of the plates of illustrations from the book, plus KADS Fashion 035, so that’s three un-used plates. And just because I’ve used the others doesn’t mean I don’t want to use them again. So I think the chances are good. It’s just hard because it’s Halloween month.
Hmmm…I guess that means I can also freehand some nail art for the video game since its genre is horror.
Meanwhile, here are my two previous Alice in Wonderland nail art designs. I think I have a color scheme when it comes to this subject. π€£
