I own two different–and before this mani unused–tarot stamping plates. So when the prompt of Creepy Circus came up, I had a big list of things that I could have painted, but a fortuneteller that predicts terrible futures for their customers was the perfect topic. Plus it let me paint something else for my Witches of S series, which only means something to me. Hah!
There are three different fortunetelling related words that start with ‘S’: seer, soothsaying, and second sight. I decided to go with seer since that felt like a more general term that would allow me to throw in everything from tarot cards to crystal balls to the all-seeing eye. Nothings better than more, right?
The Five of Pentacles is one of those cards that can mean financial ruin depending on its position in a tarot reading (I am definitely not an expect there, so let’s leave it at that). I decided to depict it because this is supposed to be a creepy circus, so you shouldn’t be getting a good fortune. Also, I had a great little stamping image for it. Things aligned well for me.
However, if you don’t know anything about tarot, it won’t mean much so I stuck a very unsubtle death pronouncement on my thumb. Sure, I could have used a death tarot card, but my understanding is that it’s more about change than the grave, so anyone who did understand tarot readings would shake their head at me. I do try to be culturally respectful here on the blog. I apologize if I missed. Meanwhile, uh, “Death!” 😆

You know, I don’t really have a skittle tag on the blog because I do them all the time. (Skittle = every nail is different or if you give a number it means that many nails are different.) Simple nail art is more rare for me, which is why that does have a tag. I’d meant to repeat the scatter of cards on my index and pinkie, but then I saw the hand holding the tarot card in a full-nail pattern and I thought that would fit quite neatly on my pinkie.
Anyway, I had fun. Just threw everything on my nails for this one. If I had six fingers, there may have been a kitchen sink involved. Or at least a cup of tea.

And somehow this became my favorite design out of the bunch.
The details fade away at a distance, but there are enough big elements that you can still get the gist.
