This was a set I’d wanted to do for a while because I’ve owned my DXE stamping plates for so long, but I didn’t have enough long and tall silhouettes to make a set of five until Beauty BigBang sent me their XL-028 stamping plate. Set complete! This nail art was going to happen this month, it was only a matter of finding a spot to jam it in. Luckily #ClaireStelle8BlisKissHalloween had a goblins/ghouls prompt and #LigaNailistaChallenge had a witch vs fairy prompt and I went for it. Rainbow style…
Are these costumes or are they really what they are dressed up to be?
- Base Polishes:
On false nails… Covergirl’s “Sulfur Blaze”; KleanColors’ “Metallic Green”, “Metallic Pink”, and “Metallic Aqua”; and Zoya’s “Amy” - Stamping Polishes:
Mundo de Unas’ “Black” (gaps filled in w/Sinful Colors’ “Black on Black”) - Stamping Plates:
BeautyBigBang XL-028 (witch and death) (press sample), DXE11 (devil), and DXE18 (demon/ghoul & skeleton)
Did you see how I’m properly splitting up the polish lists with semicolons now? I’ve had a feeling I was doing it wrong for a while, but figured you would be able to figure out what went with what. I finally sucked it up and looked up if I should be using semicolons. It’s good to be right. And also I will be kinder to you from now on and use them.
Initially, I had the thumb painted purple, but it was too dark and you couldn’t really see the devil. I thought about switching to white, but I finally decided to shrug and go with bright blue. I had been debating about using a blue initially but thought that purple was more typically Halloween. I was right the first time! Also, I’m kind of giggling inside because it’s like an unintentional reference to “cold day in hell.”
Naturally I organized the colors by how they blend into each other, but all the stamps were organized by how well they’d fill up the nail they were placed on. I should have used a shrink stamper on the skeleton though. /sigh
Anyway, she got the thumb because, even though she’s super thin, her hip-shot pose takes up the most space. I remember when a friend from work complained that women always stand hip-shot instead of standing up straight. I…guess we often do? I know I do it because it’s more comfortable and I can switch out which foot is getting a bit of a break. Maybe we should just raise the standards of comfort for women’s shoes. LOL
Seriously. I think shoe inserts are a different kind of pink tax sometimes.
Ah, those false nails are so long. Truly, I salute the ladies that live with such glorious talons all the time.
