There was a tulip prompt last month that I didn’t have time to paint even though I knew what I wanted to do. Naturally I was able to get to it this month since April tends to have lots of flower and rain prompts. You’ll have to wait on the rain, but I hope you like my tulips! And also (unusual for me) just straight stamping and one double stamp!

I wish I could say that the tulip image was set up for layered stamping, but it was a full nail pattern. I just picked off the bits of the design that I didn’t want in whatever color and worked with what was left. This meant three separate stamps for stems and three more to make red, pink, and yellow tulips. I decaled all the little tulips and trimmed and placed them one at a time starting with the pink flower stamping image. This is why the tulips aren’t in a set pattern for the colors. Layered stamping plates are useful, but sometimes we just gotta work a little harder to do things the way we want.
It occurs to me now that this would have been a good one to show steps for. Sorry about that. I was really struggling to get anything done that night otherwise I’m sure I would have thought of it.
My yard has a ton of flowers blooming right now but I have a wimpy total of three tulip plants on the entire property. In fact, most of my flowers now are bluebells. So. Many. Bluebells. Out of the bulb-spring variety of plants I had a grand total of one patch of critter-chomped snow drops, three crocuses, two small patches of daffodils, two patches of small grape hyacinth, and one proper hyacinth. There definitely needs to be a re-balancing because I’m loving all these flowers, but I need more variety.
Until next time, friends! I hope you also have spring flowers to enjoy soon (or now!) 👋
