Yep, I’m still behind on posts. But! I’ve still got a schedule for new nail art for Christmas so I’m gonna intersperse the catch-up with the keep-up.
Monochrome can be so hard but so fun. In 2020 I started a little collection of nail art in different monochrome color schemes with the intention of creating a full Christmas rainbow and then some. The nail art was all finished that year and I thought I’d finish posting it in 2021. Little did I know I’d still be so busy flailing from The Move that I would only post once for December. So here we are. For the orange. And it’s such a gorgeous shade that I think I bought it again in a different form this Polish Pickup.

Remember how I said monochrome is hard? Yeah, I struggled. I don’t think the photo to the right (or above for mobile) even represents all my attempts because I repainted it more than once, which is unusual for me. I knew I didn’t like my results, but I wanted to keep the nail art fairly simple so what was I doing wrong?
I looked at what I had been happy with and realized I needed more visual texture of a kind because you can only go so light or dark with monochromes before it starts looking white or black. Holo is a visual texture…right? 😜
I kept the house but shifted it up since I wasn’t going to paint Santa on his sleigh again. Instead I just put Santa himself on my thumb. Sweet man. Gotta wonder how many squats he does Christmas night. Maybe he can afford to eat all those cookies because he remembers to squeeze his glutes on the way back up. Unlike me…
