Today’s burnt orange color is more orange and, oh, I’ve waited a few years to get to use this gorgeous color. Seriously, the cruelest part of having a large polish collection (aside from the cost 😭) is finding time to use them all! It made a perfect pairing with my inspiration: vintage Halloween posters with limited colors. Back in the day when it seemed like most people were printing with a limited color set so four colors had to be plenty and human design skills rose to that challenge. I have a rockabilly stamping plate (M228) with people that looked like they had skull heads and I just went from there.

To help my haunted houses “pop” against the fairly dark orange background, I double stamped with my favorite cream polish, Maniology’s “Coconut” that you might recognize from yesterday’s Hot Ghost October design. The space around the skeletons actually felt a little bare so I went back and double stamped the sketchy little stars that were in the big haunted house image. They are so cute! If you asked me before I got into nail art what kind of design element would show up in my work a lot, I would not have said “stars”, but they really seem to show up a lot.
Which is not an excuse for me to buy stamping plates just to get more star options. Except it is…
#DesigningWithDenise – Original October
Denise challenged us to create a Halloween scene in a vintage style like the old fashioned paintings that people are adding ghosts to. And the results! I really wish tags worked like they used to so you could see all the results easily.
