We are already on the last day it is possible to be born under the zodiac sign of Cancer so I thought I should post this lotus nail art I painted last year. Oh my, how time flies and I just haven’t been painting my nails much or writing blog posts! How useful to have this deadline!
There are several flowers associated with the Cancer zodiac like white carnations or roses, jasmine, morning glories, delphinium, alstroemeria and blue violets. Sometimes water lilies are also associated with Cancers, but I wonder if that is partly because they are often used interchangeably with the lotus even though they are not the same flower.
An easy way to quickly differentiate between the two is to observe where the flowers and leaves are in relation to the surface of the water. The lotus is taller with leaves and flowers growing above the water while the lily’s leaves and flowers float on the water’s surface. They are both lovely, but I chose to focus on the lotus since it is more closely related to my heritage.

I wanted to keep this a very simple nail art so the focus would be on the beautiful lotus flower. I kept with a soft, low-contrast color palette that felt compatible with the Cancer symbol. I did want some contrast, however, so I painted more silver on my ring finger nail to make that nail appear darker. I also added a cute crab on the thumb because I love crabs and they fit the theme. Lotus flowers and cancer symbols were stamped in the background using a pearly white to help them blend in while still making the entire mani very zodiac Cancer-focused. If one wanted to recreate this nail to solely focus on lotus nail art, the cancer symbols can easily be left out.

Zodiac Collection
It has been a while, but it feels like a great time to point out that I have painted a full zodiac collection with every symbol of the western zodiac. I will feature the one for cancers today, but you can hop on over to the zodiac collection tag to see them all. Happy birthday, my fellow Cancers!

What do you think, my friends? Should I paint a full set of floral zodiac nail art? 🤔
Wonderful nails. I love that base so much 😀
Hope you are well. How have you been keeping?
Thanks! I’ve been pretty good. Just reading rather than painting.
