I think #NailArtChallenge’s Blue/Purple prompt is the perfect time to share this mani. This is not the first time that Born Pretty’s gorgeous Chameleon Cat’s Eye 24 appeared on this blog. In fact, what you are seeing right now is the same application of the polish. Hey, it’s a gel. I try to get a lot of use out of them when I use them. 🙂 I really wasn’t very fond of my first nail design on this. I took it off with the thought I’d try again, but I just did not have the mental energy to face it again when I didn’t have to. Plus I really wanted to use these beautiful fish that look like something someone illustrated with vectors instead. So I played around with them and what you are seeing now is my second attempt to get the fish design right.
I love how the swirls from the Ejiubas & opal hazlett plate blend in with the magnetic polish. It’s actually the part that I had to re-do. I started with a beautiful metallic blue, Essie’s “Bell-bottom Blues”, and it was too bright and distracting. My mental tiredness really hadn’t changed since I gave up on my first mani, but I’d specifically bought YZW-Y11 because I really loved the fish. I couldn’t let them down. I made myself take it off without taking any pictures so I’d have no choice but to try again. And I’m glad that I did. I am really happy with this one. It’s a good example of letting a translucent stamping do the work for you.

I didn’t want to linger on the other design’s blog post so I didn’t post this earlier, but here is a split shot of the gel polish by itself and a macro shot. This is without a black polish underneath like Born Pretty recommends. I think not having it gave the mani an almost luminescent glow, but sometimes you could see visible nail line if you were watching. Not something that is going to get noticed unless someone is really examining your nails though. Still. Some day I’m going to use this again with a black undie and I’ll take a macro shot again so we can compare. 🙂
