I wrote the first stanza in 2000 as a quick quote for the home page of the site. In February 2002, I lay on my bed playing with a phrase and a feeling in my head. It occurred to me this was the second stanza of a poem I'd written long ago. And with the second, I knew I needed one more. The third stanza was the hardest to write because it had to connect with everything just right. I poked at it daily hoping to scare up the right words...like rabbits or pheasants. Then I could shoot one down and stuff it for display. And I finally got it. Two months later. :p
