Index of the King

Still ignorant about marquee, but it does lead to the quotes at the top of my index pages.

Royal Chaos:

Upon my move to geocities, I started using a different background for each section instead of one for each page. I stopped using my real name and never started again. Vishan: He Who Never Listens made his first appearance as my flame bitch.

Many geocities pages had "Get a free page at [Geocities]." at the bottom of their pages, but, since I didn't like their buttons, I wrote "Page hosted by Geocities." instead. I continued to do this until I left geocities two years later.

I also had a brief fling with guestbooks (dropped because geocities's were ugly and I didn't see the point) and a longer fling with counters.

Survivors:

It didn't take long for me to drop the worst of my "first attempt" and start adding more of my own stuff.

  • Index of the King - unchanged.
  • Royal Moi - renamed "Royal Self" to avoid confusion; probably the first time I started thinking of the mysterious Others (that's you, btw). I switched from paragraphs to paragraphs and a short list of random things about me. I found I had no interest in the music page, so I soon dropped it.
  • Color World - unchanged.
  • Credits - unchanged.
  • Royal Writing Corner - expanded to three sections & a quote archive.
    • Poetry - I put them into categories: amusing, imitation deep thought, and peanutbutter poems.
    • Short Stories
    • Essays - split into serious and not serious, just in case someone took my sarcasm for something else.
  • Idiot Pages - unchanged.
  • Update - just the date and a line or two. Don't you wish I'd talk so little now...

New Additions:

  • Confusion - help for those who had a hard time finding their way around and the legend of my censorship icons. For, you know, people who can't take swear words. *eye roll* I know I would have put me out of my misery, why didn't any of you?
  • Royal Opinion - I had some so I wrote them down. I was the only who did it as far as I knew then.
  • Royal Jester - I started out w/some email forwards and my own answering machine messages, curses, top ten lists, and Earwig Haters Unanonymous.
  • Royal Artistic Attempts - I incompetently scanned in a few things and scaled them down with height and width attributes to make them thumbnails for themselves. Yes, I was one of those. :p

Further Mistakes:

I stopped using the <p> tags when I realized I didn't have to, but then I put two <br> tags at the end of my paragraphs because otherwise it was hard to read. My teen rebellion. Right. There. :p

Sweeping your mouse over the links would set the status bar to the date the page was last updated. Some people may not consider that a mistake, but I don't think it's a good idea to mess with the status bar. I like to see where I'm going.

The big problem was the border graphics. I kept using percentages in my tables (as I was taught), which doesn't work at different resolutions or even window sizes. Graphics that weren't wide enough also tiled, I'm sure. :p You won't see this error here, but I did it.

The text was placed in a table for your eyeball-ing ease. Originally, it all ran free like rabid pet rocks.
