Last month’s challenges included doing nail art, which apparently set off a bug in me. Namely, I had a feeling that my Sinful Colors’ fluid art polishes were not longer able to create cells and I decided to test a few of them. Sadly, I’m pretty sure they have died now and the only reason why my fluid art nails have cells at all is because I added some silicone to a bottle of clear polish and used it in this nail art. Ah, well. That’s what you get with special effects nail polish. *suspiciously eyes all my thermal polishes*

A quick summary of fluid art-ing with “cells”

This is definitely not my trick, but taking a cheap bottle of clear polish (not a quick drying top coat) and adding a pump of Garnier Fructis’ Sleek and shine Anti-frizz thingie to it creates a clear fluid art maker. Paint a generous and wet amount of it on a silicone matt; then add drips and lines of your other polishes on top. Now you can use a tool to swish stuff around or gently pass a stamper or scraper over it (without pressing far enough down on your polish pools that you touch the matt) and then let the cells form as they will. Once your polish is dry you can apply it as a decal to your nails.

I used the stamper and got some pretty cool cells out of it once I gave up on the Sinful Colors’ polishes working on their own. Then I slapped a few gold holographic stickers on top without taking any before photos because I suck. 😝

Because I am so smart, I also slapped a too-small decal on my thumb first thing. Which meant patching on other trimmed off parts from my other nails so I could have full coverage. I feel like it’s pretty obvious that the upper left corner on my thumb was added later.

Amusingly enough, the stickers show up far more the farther away you are. I guess that means they win in the end.
