Roald Dahl’s The Witches

I grew up reading Roald Dahl and my three favorite books of his are Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Witches, and The BFG. I was never fond of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory books and enjoyed Matilda but… I had my sister looking out for me so, while I was a wee little bookworm, I didn’t really relate to the rest of Matilda’s story and The BFG had more wonder in it. All three of my favorites have been made into movies (sometimes more than once). Indeed, Dahl seems to be one of those authors that captures the imagination and a large percentage of his books have been adapted into movie form.

Well #NailsWithIgFriends has a Your Favorite Halloween Movie prompt this month and I decided to pick The Witches since I’ve already done nail art for The Nightmare Before Christmas. Granted, my pick is not set during Halloween or anything so I’m stretching things because it has witches, but…I’m not really into most Halloween movies. I love Halloween, but I love the cool decorations, morbid themes, and the costumes. Halloween movies seem to focus on getting people who are acting stupidly killed, which is stressful for me. Now I did see Boys In the Trees on Netflix and it is set on Halloween and it is was tender and beautiful and a little scary. Highly recommend. I maybe should have done nail art of that. But I didn’t. Because: favorite childhood book. 😉

So now I’ve done Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Witches. I guess I will have to do The BFG sometime. Ah, how will I ever pick what to depict?!
